Darcy - AAC 2009 A con in a castle...how cool is that??

Friday~

* Arrived later on. I wasn't really going to go but because I had to deliver a wig commission, I ended up going. This also gave me the excuse to give back Sophie her costume pieces that I repaired.

* Wore Strawberry Panic on request from Lindsay since we both love these outfits so much, but only have got to wear them once before. Because my hair is not red anymore, I decided to go as Kaori instead. It works since Lindsay was Shizuma and Kaori is her first girlfriend.

* Got to stand in the hall for a bit. Caught up with Jackie, Mike, Nikki, Chibi Sara, Ken, Drewgong, 9 bucks, Kate and Sadi while waiting for Steph to pick up her wig commission. Nikki was helpful and let me borrow her badge so I could go into the formal dance to look for Steph. Thanks Nikki! That was great! Funny enough, she was there! Got to give her the wig, which she was thrilled about. Had many people ask out of concern because of my latest LJ entries if I was okay. Really made me happy that people did inquire about my health. Got lots of complements on how skinny I looked! ^___^

* Next went to Sophie's room and hung out with Olivia and her. I was under the impression that Olivia wasn't going... but I was pleasantly surprised! It was great to see her and Sophie. Ran into Sketch & Sarah for a few seconds on the elevator.

* Photo shoot happened with Lindsay and me. Harris showed up after Drewgong had taken some photos for us. Him and his buddy Cory were pretty wasted, but still took some really great photos! While posing for pics, ran into Pachuki.

* Formed a group to go out to Uno's since it was one of the only things opened past 11 in Nashua. Had a lot of fun talking and catching up. Had some problems with the food taking FOREVER to get to us and Lindsay's burger was raw. We had the manager coming to our table apologizing for all the problems. (LOL, now that I think of it, this is the third time I've gone to Uno's at a convention and it is the third time I've had problems there. Any other time I eat there, Nothing bad happens. Sounds like a funny coincidence to me) From there, parted ways and drove back to Corey's apartment, where the sausage-fest was going on; i.e. Corey, Spam, Neil, and special out of town guest Scott AKA Scooter were playing some board game. Bed for me.

Saturday~

* Woke up later than expected. Had a pistachio muffin thanks to Corey and the guys after they went for a breakfast run. Corey spilled coffee all over Scooter's car floor. The mat I was told imitated a Shamwow and absorbed all of the coffee. lol While outside they discovered Scooter's car had been balogna bombed. Yes, Someone had covered his car with pieces of bologna. We are guessing someone in the apartment complex had something against New Jersey? What a bunch of weirdos! His car was the only one that it happened to.

* Neil, Corey and Scooter went to AAC while I stayed home and finished my Sumomo costume. Got a nice phone call while finishing up from Ginny, who was at AUSA. She wanted to tell me that she was thinking of me because she got some great photos of her in her Fedlt wig that I styled for her. It came at the right time because I getting a little ansy and frustrated, so the act of kindness really helped me through. ^_____^ The hardest part was trying to figure out how to keep the wig styled with the hat on my head. I just followed my instincts and lucky enough, everything worked out more than perfect. I was really worried that everything was going to be way too heavy and I wouldn't be able to balance it. Put on my contacts and make up and was ready to go. It was my first time driving with contacts in my eyes. I was trying to keep the heat in the car away from my face in fear it would dry out my eyes.

* Got to the con in good time. Only 20 minutes from Corey's place! ^__^ Had a few people recognize me as Sumomo. I got a lot of people asking what I was from and when I told them Chobits, they said they had never heard of it. I find that to be really bizarre!! I thought Chobits was super mainstream?

* This con was just so much fun. It really showed why I love it so much and why it's one of my favorite cons of the year. I could just go up to random strangers and have conversations with them. Normally at other cons when I do the same thing I either get people being total snobs and just either giving me that stuck up look or just out right ignore me. This never happens at AAC for me. I actually met some girl dressed as Chii and we had a nice conversation about Chobits. Also got to talk with Mars and L33t street boy Matt outside. People that I don't know well, but who just wanted to talk with me. Hung out with Sophie for a little while, while the 3 guys were playing the same board game.

* Ran into Lindsay and her boyfriend Nick. They were in line for the rave. I asked Lindsay to take some photos of me in my Sumomo costume. Nikki joined in along with Scooter. Had a lot of fun goofing off.

* Corey got a hold of a panel room and set up an impromptu "Beat Darcy at name that tune game"! OMGZ!! It's been a long freakin time since we played this at a con!! The last one I remember was Matsuricon 2006 maybe? This time we got a room of 7 people, and had all of them on one team trying to beat me. Throughout the whole game except for the last round, I had a handicap of 10 seconds, so they had a head start on me to answer. Corey brought his external hard drive with all his animu music on it. We played this from midnight until 3am!! Being dressed as Sumomo was so fitting because they kept on saying, "You are so good at this. What are you... a computer???" Which then I would reply, "Hey kid, I'm a computer. Stop all the downloading!" Ya know the quote from the GI Joe parodies? LOL That still makes me laugh!! hahahahaha In the end I got to meet this kid Mike. He was cool. He wore a white froofy shirt. He kinda reminded me of Nelson. AND I won the game 78 to 38! Against 5 or 6 knowledgeable people! VICTORY!

Sunday~

* Slept in. Felt lazy. Corey cooked us hot cakes with fruit and whipped cream. We watched some episodes of South Park & the Fuccons. Then I decided it was pretty late and so instead of going back to the con where there was nothing going on, I would have Scooter take some photos of me in my Minmay costume because he is such an amazing photographer! Like the best I know! I have not many good photos of this costume, so this was good timing! The photoshoot was fun and educational. Scooter taught me a lot. I noticed that it's not just me being paranoid, but my camera does make me look heavier than what I am. I found this out by comparing our same photoshoots of my Sumomo costume. His camera made me look how I see myself in the mirror. I guess it really does make a difference having a fancy camera with a good lens. *shrug* After that, a little hanging out was had, and then Scooter had to go back to Jersey. *sad face* I am super happy he came up for the weekend to visit! I really enjoyed his company! ^___^
